THE CROYDON ART SOCIETY SOCIAL MEDIA COMPETITION 2024 RULES
Competition prize: £200 plus winning picture to be exhibited at the CAS Annual Exhibition in
Denbies Vineyard, London Rd, Dorking, RH5 6AA: 19 th August to 1 st September 2024
1. Competition to start: Monday 10 th June 2024
2. Competition to end: Friday 26 th July 2024
3. The winner will be notified by Friday 9th August 2024
4. Entry to this competition is free.
5. Up to 3 pictures per person can be entered into this competition
6. Entrants to the competition must provide their name, any relevant art experience,
address, contact telephone number and email. This information will only be kept for the
use of this competition as per GDPR.
7. Competition entry images and personal details to be ideally sent to CAS via WeTransfer.
This information will be kept until the end of the competition and winning picture has been
selected before being deleted.
8. Pictures can be any 2D medium, traditional and modern including digital art. Digital work
will only be acceptable provided it has been printed by a Giclee process (maximum 50)
and certified as such by a member of The Fine Art Trade Guild.
9. All works must be the original conceptual work of the artist submitting and imitations of
the work of other artists are not acceptable. All etchings and other printed works must
state the limited edition number (maximum 50). Unlimited edition prints are not
acceptable. Please be aware of copyright obligations when you work from photographs.
10. Picture size must not exceed 32 inches (81 cm) longest side including frame.
11. The competition is open to any UK residents including CAS members (but excluding
Committee Members and any past or current, paid presenters used by CAS).
12. The winning picture must be delivered to a CAS Committee Member in Croydon before
Sunday 19 th August at the very latest (prior to start of Denbies exhibition) and they will
transport the picture to Denbies.
13. If the winning picture is not delivered in time to be transported to the CAS Annual
Exhibition at Denbies then it will be not be able to take part in the exhibition. The winning
picture will be transported entirely at the winner’s risk and no responsibility will be
accepted for damage during transit by either the person transporting or the Society.
14. Entrants must provide an image of their picture. If it is already framed then this must be
included in the image along with the frame size and medium of work.
15. Unframed pictures can be entered but this must be indicated at time of entry and you
must be prepared to frame it and make it ready for hanging prior to being exhibited at
Denbies. Help can be provided for this for the exhibition.
16. If your picture is not already framed, you may find it better to purchase a frame from
Ikea/Dunelm/Amazon for example. Therefore, it is advised that entries should ideally fit a
commercially available frame (unless painted on a box canvas with a minimum of 30mm
deep, smooth canvas around the edges and finished off by painting round the sides.).
Advice and help re framing and mounting work can be given if necessary.
17. Pictures must be available for display at Denbies throughout the whole of the CAS
exhibition e.g. Monday 19 th August 2024 to Sunday 1 st September 2024
18. The winning picture will need to be collected from a CAS Committee Member in Croydon
once the exhibition finishes after 1 st September 2024 unless sold during the exhibition.
19. The winner can choose for their winning picture to be exhibited as Not For Sale or offered
for sale at Denbies subject to the 30% CAS commission fees that all CAS members are
required to pay. The minimum price for any picture offered for sale during the CAS
exhibition at Denbies is £50.
20. The monetary prize will not be paid until after the CAS Denbies exhibition has finished.
21. CAS Selectors decision on the winning entry is final.
22. CAS reserves the right to use images of entrants pictures as publicity for this Competition
on the CAS Website or Social Media sites.
23. All entrants into this competition will be deemed to have accepted these Rules.
